About GGD

What is it all about?

Nottingham Girl Geek Dinners are an opportunity for like-minded women to talk about all things relating to technology over food and drinks. The events are aimed at providing a welcoming atmosphere and a platform for learning in an informal environment. They are usually held in local bars or restaurants, with a speaker who talks for a short while on a chosen subject for the evening.

So what is a "geek"?

Someone who is passionate and knowledgable about their chosen subject. You can be a geek about anything, from gardening to forumla one racing, but usually it is used in relation to technical subjects, particularly computers. Embrace your inner geek and come meet other passionate and interesting people like you.

Rules of attendance

Women are welcome to attend however if you are male and wish to attend this event you must bring a female with you or be brought by a female. NO FEMALE, NO ENTRY!!!! Sorry Guys! (We will keep the numbers balanced!)

The backstory...

Girl Geek Dinners was originally founded in London and since then groups have been popping up all over the UK ever since, with new groups starting all the time. Nottingham and the surrounding East Midlands has a really active technology sector, but as with the industry across the globe it is still very male dominated. This is a little space where you can be as geeky as you like and as girly as you like and be welcomed for it.
